An astonishing little mountain of sand that Mother Nature has carved out over the centuries, the Dune du Pilat, surrounded by the flames of man, stands firm in this flat landscape of now-blackened pines. Today, it stands as a protective bulwark against our excesses, a contrast of shapes and colours, an inescapable diversions that only nature has been able to patiently sculpt for us.
